It has just been announced that the sixth ranger of the fresh and new super sentai Zyuoyger uses a flashlight to transform.
Did no one listen last time I did a rant like this. If you will recall the second rant I ever did was about how The sixth members of the past few years have used devices that are completely different to what the main team uses. And it appears that no one at Toei read that rant though I didn't expect they would. However I don't mind this years since it's safari based so the sixth member must either be based on either a explorer which is the most likely or it could be poacher based which is very unlikely unless he is going after the white ranger. She is cute (don't judge me I'm not the only one who thinks so.
Next time should Western adaptions be a direct adaption or not

Rant 10 should there be more Tokuusatsu franchises aimed at adults
Hi there DSrider here with another toku rant this week I'm talking about. Should there be more tokusatsu Franchises aimed solely at adults. And the answer is yes and no.
Yes because it allows more greats like the Garo franchise to be created. And no becuase it really goes against what Tokusatsu is about. A show or movie that appeals to a wider audience. A good story and plot for the older viewers to enjoy. And lots of cool looking stuff with explosions which will encourage the younger viewers to go out and buy the show/movie's merchendise. Which is what allows this stuff to be made positive reviews and funding from toy sales. And Garo doesn't have that then again the live action show only has 26 episodes per series so it doesn't need as much funding as super sentai or Kamen Rider

Rant 9 - My thoughts on Kamen Rider Drive suprise future
Hi there this is DS rider coming at you with another toku rant and this time it's my thoughts on Kamen Rider Drive's summer movie, Suprise Future. Warning spoilers below
To start off I liked it. I liked the story with Eiji Tomari and dark drive as well as Roidmude 108 being the same person that was a well done twist.
I do like the design of Dark Drive with it's Tron like neon blue lines on the suit it does make me wonder if the future versions of Mach and Chaser look like that too.
However I do feel like there are some element reused from Movie war Full Throttle, the crossover movie with Kamen Rider Gaim. Such as the drive driver damaged and the shift cars help repair it. Okay that's not entirely accurate. In that movie the driver was merely critically damaged in this movie it's cleaved in half by an axe because of corrupted programming.
But they are able to restore Krim Steinbelt in Dark Drive's Belt after he discarded it by using the movie exclusive Deux-ex-machina. The Tridoron Key. Which in a Mach driver allows Tomari Shinnosuke to become Kamen Rider Chou Dead Heat Drive.
I like the design of Chou dead heat and it makes sense because the original dead heat is a mix of Drive Type speed and Mach's base form and Chou dead heat is Mashin Chaser's body with the purple coloured red and with Type Speed's head.
There are other things I like such as the return of ride Crosser which was only used twice in the show.
How Dark Drive's shift cars can possess ordinary vehicles and create roidmudes that's a nice touch. And how it alludes to Shinnosuke and Kiriko getting Married.
And I do like it when Shinnosuke becomes Drive type special he fuses with a projection of Eiji as they transform together. You don't get that in Den-O that's for sure.
Overall I thought it was a good movie and it ties into the series quite well, which is a suprise to say the least. I hope that you enjoy this movie when you watch it yourself if you haven't already
That's all from me this week see you.
Next week has did Jonathan Tzachor ruin Power Rangers.

Why are there not many female Kamen riders
Hi this is DS rider here with another toku rant this isn't what I said I would release last week but I need to edit the video together for it and then upload it to YouTube so that should be up next week.
Anyway the inspiration for the concept of a female Kamen Rider was in the form of Electro-Wave Human Tackle a secondary hero in the seventh Kamen Rider series; Kamen Rider Stronger. Many of the ideas that lead into the femal riders came from her including the trope of tragically dying.
The first official Kamen rider was Kamen Rider femme from Kamen Rider Ryuki she died until the timeline was reset, don't ask.
I think the reason that there are not many Female riders is that when they are done properly they can be more badass and intimidating then the main Rider unless one day that the Main rider is female, which I would have no complaints with. One example of this is Kamen Rider Kiva-la from Kamen Rider Decade or Kiriko Shinjima from Kamen Rider drive if Kiriko had become a Rider. She would be the most frightening character in the series.
Anyway this is my theory on why there are so few Female Kamen Riders. Comment below on why you think there are so few Female riders in comparison to male riders until next time this is DS rider signing off

Rant 6 - Can Star Wars count as Tokusatsu
hi there everyone this is DSrider here with another Toku rant today we are talking about Star Wars and how it could count as Tokusatsu.
Okay to start this off and say the most obvious thing, yes it could because Tokusatsu roughly translated into English means Special Effects something which Star Wars is not lacking in. With the explosions and costumes for the different creatures, the lasers and lightsabers.
Not to mention there are a lot of references to Samurai culture in Star Wars especially in the lightsaber duels and in the costume design for Darth Vader and the Jedi robes. George Lucas himself admitted that when taking inspiration for Star Wars he looked at old black and white Samurai movies.
There I've made my argument about how Star Wars could count as Tokusatsu and Next Week we are talking about how Inui Takumi is my favourite Kamen Rider

Rant five - do Kamen rider's 3 and 4 deserve the title
Happy new year everyone this is DSrider here. This year marks the 45th Anniversary of great work of Shotaro Ishinomori, Kamen Rider.
Today I'm here to talk to you about something rather decisive (I think that's the word anyway) amoung the fan base. do Kamen Riders 3 and 4 deserve the title of Kamen Rider.
Simply put no they don't. They are at best Shocker Riders. I will start with 3 first so let's get him out the way first shall we.
Firstly when Sangou became a shocker Rider he was never brainwashed like Shocker tried to do to 1&2 he joined them of free will because he shared Shocker's ideals, he never showed any genuine regret for all the wrong he has done throughout both movies he was featured in until the very end when it was such a heel turn desision that one would think it was character assassination for him.
Now on to Yongou. He is simply a robot built by Shocker to help them take over the world. There is no chance for redemption unlike Sangou. Heck even in the net movies in which he was the titular character Tomari shinnosuke Kamen Rider Drive said that he had no right to call himself a Kamen Rider. That being said I do like the Yongou net movies despite their flaws which only come up due to it's relation with shouji younemura's super hero Taisen film line.
I will counter this argument however with the designs of the suits, I love the original Typhoon belt design it's basic pure and simple.
To back me up on this statement I direct you to Des Shinta's reviews of both Super Hero Taisen GP 3, Kamen Rider Sangou and The Kamen Rider Yongou net movies I highly recommend them becuase even if the reviews themselves bore you there are a lot of antics you can enjoy. You can find them on Dailymotion just look up Des Shinta reviews
That's all for this week see you next time becuase next week we are talking about how Star Wars could technically be counted as Tokusatsu. After that we are discussing why Inui Takumi is my favourite Kamen Rider. See ya
